Maryjane Guzman ...

Maryjane Guzman

Artist Maryjane Guzman grew up in eastern Washington in a family that loved and encouraged art.  At the age of 16, she started painting in oils.  “I’ve experimented with other mediums,” she explains, “but I liked the texture of oil paint and the things I can do with it.”  She adds, “The whole oil painting experience is really intriguing and also therapeutic for me.”

Maryjane met her friend Kaycee Kiesz at a pub crawl for MS on St. Patrick’s Day.  “Kaycee is just an amazing person with a lot of drive,” Maryjane says, “She didn’t let her MS get her down and I wanted to do whatever I could to help her.”

Maryjane decided to embark on a project: “Art for MS”.  Each painting that she sells, she donates half the proceeds to Kaycee to use for her MS fundraising.

Maryjane specializes in portraits.  She also works in a daycare center during the week, on a charter boat on the weekends, and modeling when she can to pay for her art supplies.

"In life," she says, "there are so many great memories that are made with your friends and family."

"These are the memories that you love to look back on."
