Grief and Loss Workshop

Life Changes and MS: Addressing Grief and Loss Issues

The MS Association holds this workshop once a year.

Join us for this rare opportunity to listen, discuss and express the feelings you and your family have experienced with the “uninvited guest” called MS.  The program is facilitated by professional counselors who have worked in the field of grief and loss for many years.  The following facilitators have participated in previous Grief and Loss workshops:

  • Mel Erickson BA, RC
  • Bonnie Genevay, MSW
  • Dorothy Grainger RN, MSN, MBA
  • Jerry Hanna, Pastoral Minister
  • Patt Reade, MEd, Beginning Experience Counselor

Why I Should Come and How This Will Help Me

  • To Better Understand the Grief Process and Where I am In It
  • To Learn The Tools That Will Work For Me
  • To Give Myself Permission To Feel and To Release My Bottled Up Feelings
  • To Acknowledge My Mental Health and Outlook
  • A Safe Place to Start (or continue) the Process

It is important to acknowledge the process of grief and where you are in it. Kubler-Ross and others have developed six stages of grief.  They are:

  • Denial – “This can’t be happening to me.”
  • Anger – “It isn’t fair. What did I do to deserve this?”
  • Bargaining – “I’ll be nice to everyone if you just make it go away.”
  • Depression – “I feel hopeless. Nothing matters anymore.”
  • Acceptance – “I’ll be ok now.”
  • Outreach – “What can I do to help others?”

If you are interested in attending this workshop and would like to receive notice when the date for this year's workshop has been set, please email us with your name and email address and we will inform you of the workshop details.  You can also check the Upcoming Workshops page for the latest information on all upcoming seminars and workshops.
