MSA Volunteer Steve Fisher...

Steve Fisher

MSA client Brian Biccum is more than happy with his new stair railings, built by volunteer Steve Fisher (left).

“I needed something to help stabilize me going down the stairs,” explained Brian.  “When your balance goes, all of a sudden stairs are a big deal.  Now they are no longer an issue.”

Steve Fisher has been volunteering for the MSA for 4 years, building projects for our clients.

Volunteer Manager Gregg Robinson matched Steve with Brian when the stair rail project came up.

“We got together and discussed options about the best way to do this,” said Steve, “then I came back with the materials and tools and got it done.”

Steve used recycled materials from another job to put together the stair rails for Brian, and stained them to match an existing fence.  He even added a second set of stair rails on the garage steps.

“He did a wonderful job,” declares Brian, “and went the extra mile in every capacity.”

“Brian has also volunteered with us over the years,” Gregg Robinson explained.  “It’s good to be able to give him something in return.”

“This gives me more independence,” said Brian, with a hand on his new railings. “For me it’s a godsend.”
